The Trojans dropped a close game at South Alabama on Thursday night, falling 65-62. Troy led early in the second half, but a huge run by the Jaguars proved to be too much. Emil Jones scored a career-high 23 points in the loss, while Hunter Williams and Antoine Myers each went into double-figures. Augustine Rubit caused problems for the Trojans down low, scoring 21 points and grabbing 12boards. Jones is tops on the team at 11.4 points per game this season. Williams is just behind at 9.9 points, while Ray Chambers is scoring 7.8 points and 5.9 boards per game.
Middle Tennessee enters the game having won 10 straight and 14 of the last 15. On Thursday night, the Blue Raiders knocked off the top team in the Sun Belt West, Arkansas State, 73-60. The Blue Raiders get scoring from all over, led by Marcos Knight's 12.7 points per game. Eight players are averaging at least five points for a Blue Raiders squad that is outscoring its opponents by 11.3 points per game this season.
Troy is 7-10 all-time against Middle Tennessee, dropping both games last season. Troy's last win over Middle Tennessee came in the 2010-11 season, when the Trojans knocked off the Blue Raiders at home, 69-65 in overtime.
