Smith & Murphy Join Troy Athletics Administrative Staff

TROY, Ala. – Troy University Director of Athletics Steve Dennis announced Friday the hiring of Michael Murphy as Director of Special Events & Fundraising and Scott Smith as Director of Ticketing.
Murphy moves into an administrative role within the athletics department following 10 seasons as the head coach of the Troy women's basketball program. Murphy will oversee several of Troy's high-profile special events including the Troy University Sports Hall of Fame, the Larry Blakeney Golf Classic, T-Day and Fan Days.
Murphy's new role with the Trojans also places him in charge of the Trojan Wheels program in addition to coordinating with coaches on fund raising, assisting with speaking engagements and coordinating with the Troy Alumni Association for alumni events.
“We are very excited about having Mike join our administrative team,” Dennis said. “He is a man of high character and has a hard work ethic. I'm sure that he will be successful in his new role with the Trojan Family.”
Smith joins the Troy staff following stops with the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), Montgomery Biscuits and Dixon Construction. Smith was the box office assistant for the Biscuits, who are the AA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Troy University graduate helped oversee a staff of 12 employees that distributed over 350,000 tickets.
“Scott is a very exciting and energetic young man and we are looking forward to his energy as we expand our ticket and promotion department,” Dennis said. “He will help lead a proactive ticket management and selling approach in which all our Trojan fans will benefit from.”
Murphy and Smith assume their roles within the Troy Athletics Department effective immediately.
