Troy Names Adam Godwin Executive Director for Development and Letterwinner Engagement

TROY, Ala. – Troy Director of Athletics Kyle George announced Tuesday that Adam Godwin has been named Executive Director of Development and Letterwinner Engagement. Godwin assumes the role to support revenue generation for the Athletics Department after more than six years as a member of the Troy baseball staff.
"As the world of college athletics continues to evolve, we have entered a time when relationships and revenue generation matter now more than ever," George said. "I am thrilled that Adam Godwin is making this move within our department to help us grow further in these areas.
"He will be instrumental in connecting with our letterwinners and our fanbase at large. By nature, he is an outstanding connector and will help us continue to rise to new heights in this role supporting our entire department. I look forward to having him hit the ground running in this new role, which will make an immense impact on our entire department."
Godwin is a highly accomplished collegiate athletics leader with more than 20 years of experience in NCAA Division I athletics, Major League Baseball organizations, fundraising, recruiting, player development and organizational leadership. In his first year with Troy Baseball program, Godwin helped generate more than $150,000 through the program's Diamond Club fundraising initiative.
The success off the field also translated to success on the field, as Godwin was part of a staff that developed 18 All-Sun Belt student-athletes and 17 Major League Baseball Draft selections.
"Troy is the place that helped shape me, and I'll always be grateful to Mark Smartt and Skylar Meade for giving me the opportunity to be part of something special," Godwin said. "Over the years, I've realized that every athlete is more than a jersey or a statistic. Every student-athlete has a heartbeat, a story and incredible potential. Focusing on the whole person has always been the most rewarding part of coaching.
"I have an amazing support system in my wife, Kelly, and my children, Micah Mae and Griffey," Godwin said. "The transition from coaching to development, while a difficult decision to make, allows me to still impact Troy's student-athletes and programs in a positive way while being able to pour more into the lives of those around me. I am thankful to Kyle George for this opportunity and for an athletics department with a vision that honors the past while investing in the future by serving our current and former athletes. I'm humbled by the opportunity to serve those who make Troy great as we continue to elevate Troy Athletics to new heights."
Troy reached the pinnacle of the collegiate baseball world in 2026, with Godwin serving as the program's outfield and baserunning coordinator. The Trojans finished the season ranked No. 6 in the country, won the Gainesville Regional and swept the Troy Super Regional to advance to the College World Series in Omaha, where they defeated Ole Miss.
Prior to his coaching career, Godwin had a 10-year professional playing career after being selected in the 2005 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers following a decorated collegiate playing career at Troy in 2004 and 2005.
Godwin was a two-time All-Atlantic Sun First Team selection and led the country with 84 stolen bases in 2005, a record that still stands as the most in Troy program history. Godwin was named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year that season as he set a Troy single-season record for singles (75) and was fifth in hits (90).
He comes from a family with strong athletic and Troy ties. His father, Al, coached with Charlie Bradshaw at Troy; his mother, Karen, was a majorette with the Sound of South; his sister, Shelley, is the women's tennis coach at Kentucky; and his brother, Ben, worked with Alabama Football and the SEC Office and was instrumental in the launch of the MLB Network.
Godwin is married to the former Kelly Hawkins, and the couple has one daughter, Micah Mae and one son, Griffey.
