Trojans Return to Host Two Matches

TROY, Ala. – The Troy volleyball team will look to build on last weekend's big win over UALR as they return home to host North Texas on Friday and ULM on Saturday.

Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. at Sartain Hall where admission is free. Live stats and live video for each match will be available via www.TroyTrojans.com.

The Trojans (13-8, 4-2) are coming off a weekend that saw them knock off UALR, a team that was previously unbeaten in the Sun Belt. The Trojans will again look to secure their second place standing in the Sun Belt's East Division while also shaping the West Division standings as they host North Texas and ULM, both of the West Division.

Troy features a balanced offense as three players average over 3.00 kills per set in conference play. Blair Winston leads the way at 3.68 kills per set, the fourth best mark in the Sun Belt. Kayla Pickart (3.46) ranks eighth while Breanna Cullity (3.29) ranks ninth as Troy is the only team with three players in the Sun Belt's top 10. In fact, no other team has two players among the leaders.

Defensively, the Trojans have held their opponents to a .160 attack percentage this season, the second best mark in the league. Troy averages 16.09 digs per set as a team, the best mark in the conference.

Courtney Cohen leads the way at 4.78 digs per set, the second best mark in the Sun Belt.

North Texas (18-7, 4-2) enters the weekend after splitting a pair of home matches last weekend. The Mean Green defeated Middle Tennessee but fell to WKU.

The Mean Green are the only team ahead of the Trojans as they hold their opponents to a .154 attack percentage. Helping the defensive cause is Courtney Windham who leads the Sun Belt at 1.44 blocks per set.

Troy is 2-6 all-time against North Texas, including a 1-3 mark at Sartain Hall. The Trojans fell to the Mean Green at home last season in four sets.

ULM (4-11, 0-6) comes into the weekend having dropped six straight matches to open league play. The Warhawks do boast Araya Marcela, the Sun Belt's leader at 4.96 digs per set. ULM is set to play at South Alabama on Friday before traveling to Troy.

Troy is 8-0 all-time against ULM, including a 4-0 mark at Sartain Hall. The Trojans swept the Warhawks last season at Sartain Hall.
