Gameday Storylines
- The Trojans will look to snap a three-game home losing streak as they welcome Florida Atlantic to Sartain Hall.
- The contest with the Owls marks the second of three-straight at home as the Trojans will host ULM on Saturday before hitting the road next week.
-Troy, who averaged at least 10.0 three-pointers per game all season, has made just 12 long range shots in the last two games, dropping their season average to 9.5 per game. The mark is still the sixth best in the nation.
- The Trojans are able to rain in the threes by creating as many possessions as possible as they average 15.6 offensive boards per game, the second most in the Sun Belt and seventh most in the nation. The offensive boards come despite having just one player over 6'7” playing this season.
- Troy doesn't waste the extra possessions they create as they commit just 12.8 turnovers per game, the second best mark in the Sun Belt. Pair that with the 15.8 turnovers they force, and the Trojans' +3.3 turnover margin is the best in the league and 25th best in the nation.
- Will Weathers leads the Trojans in scoring at 11.4 points per game, however, the junior has struggled from the field lately, shooting just 5-of-26 overall and 1-of-12 from deep in his last three games. He also leads Troy in assists at 6.1 per game. That mark ranks first in the SBC and 16th in the NCAA.
The Series
- The Trojans lead the all-time series over Florida Atlantic, 19-8, by far the most games the Trojans have played against a current Sun Belt member. The two sides spent eight season as A-Sun rivals in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
- The series is split, 5-5, with the two sides as members of the Sun Belt, but the Trojans held a 12-3 advantage in A-Sun games with Troy also holding a 2-0 advantage before each team moved to Division I.
- The Trojans are 10-3 against the Owls at home with one of those losses coming last season in overtime, 82-77. Troy is 4-1 against the Owls in SBC home games.
- The two sides have met more than once in a season on 12 different occasions. Last season was the only time that Florida Atlantic won both match-ups as the Owls also won in Boca Raton, 77-60.
- A win on Thursday would make FAU just the fourth current Division I team that Troy has 20 wins over (Jacksonville State, UT-Martin, Georgia State).
A Troy Win Would …
- Make the Trojans 20-8 all-time against Florida Atlantic
- Make Florida Atlantic the fourth current DI team that Troy has 20 wins over (Jacksonville State, UT-Martin, Georgia State)
- Snap a two-game losing skid to the Owls
- Make Troy 11-3 against Florida Atlantic at Sartain Hall
- Give Don Maestri his 492nd career victory
- Give Maestri 298 career wins at Sartain Hall
- Give the Trojans their seventh win of the year, a feat that didn't happen last season until Feb. 12
- Put the Trojans at 7-10, last season the Trojans were 4-13 through 17 games
- Make Troy 5-3 at home this season, their final season in Sartain Hall
- Push the Trojans to 2-4 in Sun Belt play
