Gameday Storylines
- The Trojans look to build on the momentum of a 67-65 win at WKU last Saturday as they return home to host South Alabama in a televised contest.
- The contest with the Jaguars opens a three-game homestand for the Trojans who are 4-2 at Sartain Hall this season, but 0-1 in Sun Belt play.
- Troy enters the contest as the nation's third-best three-point shooting team as they make 9.7 threes per game. Troy saw its average dip below 10.0 for the first time this season with just six makes at WKU.
- The Trojans are able to rain in the threes by creating as many possessions as possible as they average 15.5 offensive boards per game, the second most in the Sun Belt (South Alabama, 15.6) and 10th most in the nation.
- Troy doesn't waste the extra possessions they create as they commit just 12.8 turnovers per game, the second best mark in the Sun Belt. Pair that with the 15.8 turnovers they force, and the Trojans' +3.0 turnover margin is the best in the league.
- Will Weathers leads the Trojans as he is tops on the team in scoring (11.9). His 6.1 assists per game rank first in the SBC and 19th in the NCAA.
- Lately, Troy has been getting great defensive efforts from their two forwards, Tim Owens and Ray Chambers, as they help give the Trojans a much-needed inside presence. Owens posted a career-high six blocks two games ago against Middle Tennessee as the two combined to hold LaRon Dendy to 2-of-10 from the field.
- The two forwards made their mark on the offensive end of the floor at WKU as they combined for 24 points and 10-of-12 from the floor, including Owens' game-winning basket.
- Head coach Don Maestri enters Saturday's contest with 491 career wins, leaving him just nine shy of the number 500.

The Series
- The Trojans trail the all-time series with the Jaguars, 6-10, including a 2-4 mark at Sartain Hall. Fourteen of the 16 meetings have come with the two sides being members of the Sun Belt. The other two meetings came in 1993-94 and 1995-96, both in Mobile.
- Last season the two sides split a pair of meetings with each road team winning. The Jags won by five in Troy on Jan. 27, but just two weeks later Troy won by 13 in Mobile
- Augustine Rubit had 12 points and 18 boards in the contest at Sartain Hall while Gary Redus was USA's leading scorer with 32. Will Weathers led Troy with 17 points and 11 assists.
- Just two weeks later at the Mitchell Center, former Trojans Travis Lee has a career-high 28 as Troy got revenge. Martino Brock led South Alabama in that game with 20 while Rubit had seven points and 13 boards.
A Troy Win Would…
- Make the Trojans 7-10 all-time against South Alabama
- Give the Trojans consecutive wins for the first time since December 3
- Avenge a home loss to South Alabama last season
- Give Troy two straight wins over South Alabama
- Give Don Maestri his 492nd career victory
- Give the Trojans their seventh win of the year, a feat that didn't happen last season until Feb. 12
- Put the Trojans at 7-9, last season the Trojans were 3-13 through 16 games
- Make Troy 5-2 at home this season, their final season in Sartain Hall
