ABCA/RAWLINGS ALL-AMERICA TEAMS
A pair of Troy players continue to see All-America honors roll in – this time as Rawlings/ABCA All-America selections.
Third baseman Tyler Hannah (Gardendale, Ala.) and right-hander Tyler Ray (Hoover, Ala.) were both selected as third team All-Americans by Rawlings and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) late last week.
Hannah and Ray are the only two players from both the Sun Belt Conference and the state of Alabama to be included on the teams.
The selection is the third thus far for Ray and the second for Hannah. Both were selected by Louisville Slugger, while Ray also added an honor from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
Ray was named as the Sun Belt Conference's pitcher of the year after posting a 12-0 record on the mound with a 2.39 ERA. Troy was victorious in all but one of the right-handers starts in 2011.
Hannah burst on the scene as a junior after sitting out the 2010 season following a mid-year transfer from the University of Tennessee. He boasted a team-best .370 mark at the plate with 27 doubles and 53 runs driven in.
Fellow Trojan, and ninth round selection of the Minnesota Twins, Adam Bryant was also named an All-American by NCBWA – giving Troy three honorees in 2011 – a school record.
Addtionally, all three players were named as ABCA All-Region performers for the organization's central region.
