Trojans Play Home Finale Saturday Evening

Senior Donette McNair suits up for the final time at Sartain Hall on Saturday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University women's basketball team hits the floor Saturday evening for the final time in the 2010-11 season, hosting Arkansas State at Sartain Hall. Tip is set for 5:15 pm on the home finale.
Prior to the contest, the Trojans will honor senior Donette McNair (New London, Conn./New London HS), who will be playing her final home game on Saturday.
Earlier this season, McNair became just the second member of the 1,000 point – 700 rebound club at the school in the Division I era. Just last week, McNair became the school's all-time career rebounding leader at the Division I level when she grabbed her 718th career rebound against South Alabama. The senior now holds the career and single-season rebounding record at the Division I level at the school, setting the season mark last year. She currently stands eighth on the all-time scoring list with 1,064 points. McNair is also listed in the top 10 in other career categories at the university; eighth in steals with 119, eighth in field goals made with 395, second in free throw made at 274, and sixth in blocked shots at 59. She is also currently one of just 22 active players with 1,000 career points – 700 rebounds – 100 steals; and is just one of 37 active players with 1,000 career points and 700 rebounds at the Division I level. McNair will graduate in May with a degree in Design Technology and Innovation, with a minor in Social Science.
The Trojans are led by McNair in scoring at 14.0 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game. She is currently fourth in the Sun Belt Conference in rebounding this season, and is the school's all-time career leader in rebounding at the Division I level. Junior DeAngela Sword (Montgomery, Ala./Pensacola JC) is the only other player in double figures for the Trojans, averaging 13.2 points per game.
Meanwhile, sophomore Sophie Kleeman (Newcastle, Australia/Newcastle HS) will hit the floor leading the Trojans in assists per game and is leading the Sun Belt in minutes played at 38.9. She has played 516 out of a possible 520 minutes this season in Sun Belt Conference action.
The game can be heard on WTBF-94.7 FM beginning at 5 pm with the pregame show courtside at Sartain Hall, followed by the tip at 5:15 pm. The game is part of a doubleheader with the men's program Thursday night.
