LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Troy head softball coach Melanie Davis was honored last week at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's annual convention at the Easton Victory Club Luncheon.
“This accomplishment is a huge tribute to the talented athletes that have worn the uniform for me over the years,” Davis said. “It is also a tribute to my assistant coaches, support staff and especially the administration here at Troy these last 18 years.”
Davis, who will enter her 19th season as the head coach of the Trojans in 2012, has amassed 804 career victories, with 706 of those coming at the helm of the Trojans.
She was one of eight coaches from across the nation at all levels to earn their 800th career win last season. Davis was joined at the NFCA National Convention in Las Vegas by current Troy assistant coach Sharon O'Mara, graduate assistant Kristy Lawrence and student assistant Chase Rawlinson.
Davis is already a member of the West Alabama Softball Hall of Fame and the Wiregrass Hall of Fame. She will look to add to her career wins total as Trojans begin their 2012 season on February 10, 2012 in Hammond, La., at the Southeastern Louisiana Lion Classic.
