Softball Releases 2012 Schedule

TROY, Ala. – Head coach Melanie Davis and Troy University softball team have announced their schedule for the upcoming season. The 56-game slate features 22 games at the confines of the Trojan Softball Complex, including an early season tournament.
The Trojans will also play 13 games against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago with six of those games coming at home, including a game against an NCAA Women's College World Series team form a season ago.
The Trojans open the year at the Southeastern Louisiana Lion Classic on Friday, February 10 before coming home the following weekend to host the Quality Inn Classic.
It is in that home tournament that the Trojans will face Missouri, a Women's College World Series participant a year ago. The Trojans will also host Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State and Nicholls State in the three-day event that runs from Friday, February 17 to Sunday, February 19.
Troy will then travel to Chattanooga, Ole Miss and LSU for regular season tournaments before returning home for an eight-game homestand. That home stretch will begin with Auburn on Wednesday, March 21 before Louisiana comes to town for a three-game set on Saturday and Sunday, March 24-25.
The Trojans will also host Sun Belt foes South Alabama and FIU in the homestand. The Trojans will also host Middle Tennessee and North Texas in home Sun Belt play while traveling to take on WKU, Florida Atlantic, ULM and South Alabama.
The Trojans host mid-weeks games against Auburn, Kennesaw State and Florida State throughout the year while traveling for mid-week games to Florida A&M, UAB and Alabama.
The 2012 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championships will be held in Boca Raton, Fla., and hosted by Florida Atlantic beginning on Wednesday, May 9.
