TROY, Ala. - The Troy University volleyball team will play host to the Tigers of Auburn University Tuesday night in Sartain Hall at 7pm. It will be the second meeting of the year between the two teams, as Auburn won the season-opener at the War Eagle Invitational.
It will mark the fifth meeting between the two schools since 2007, and Auburn leads the series 4-0. The two teams last met in Sartain Hall in 2008 with Auburn winning the match 3-1. However, it was the largest crowd to witness a volleyball match inside Sartain Hall in Troy history.
This year marks the first time the two teams will meet two times in one season, meeting once in each of the last three years. The meeting also marks the third meeting between the Trojans and an in-state opponent, as they also have faced Samford this season.
Troy (3-4) enters the match winners of two of their last three matches Tuesday, as they defeated Western Illinois and McNeese State in the 2010 Troy University Spiketacular over the weekend. The Trojans were able to shutout both of those opponents in the victory, and will look to take that momentum into the match on Tuesday night.
This will be the last home match for the Trojans until September 28 when they host Georgia State Universitty at Sartain Hall. The team will be on the road for nine games beginning this weekend as they play in tournaments at North Florida and Kennesaw State.
Admission is free to all home volleyball matches. Follow all the Troy action on Twitter by following @TroyAthletics or become a fan of Troy Athletics on Facebook.
