NEW YORK - Troy defensive end/linebacker Cameron Sheffield was selected in the fifth round (142nd pick overall) by Kansas City Chiefs in the 2010 NFL Draft on Saturday.
Sheffield becomes the first-ever Troy player drafted in the fifth round and gives the Trojans a player drafted for the fourth straight year and fifth time in six seasons.
"I'm very excited," Sheffield said. "It's been a long wait all week. I should finally be able to get some real sleep tonight. Hopefully, all the anxiety will go away now. Overall, I'm very excited to be a Chief."
Sheffield will head to Kansas City for the first time in the coming week with a rookie mini-camp set for next weekend.
