STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Trojans lost a close game in the championship game of the Bulldog Classic falling to host Mississippi State, 4-3. The Trojans picked up a second place finish in the tournament and placed four players on the All-Tournament team.

Kala Moore led the Trojans at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a run scored. Sarah Harris also had a good day, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Troy struck first with a single run in the first inning. Moore, one of Troy's All-Tournament selections led off with an infield single and advanced to second on a throwing error by the pitcher. After a wild pitch moved her to third, a ground ball to the shortstop by Nikki Hollett allowed Moore to score, giving the Trojans an early 1-0 lead.
The Trojans added another run in the second inning. All-tournament selection Sarah Harris got things started with a one out double to the right center gap. After Marcy Sartain pinch ran for Harris, a sacrifice bunt by Kaitlin Kenney moved her to third. Next up was Sally Ward who hit a hard grounder that the shortstop mishandled, allowing Sartain to score the Trojans second run.
Mississippi State got their first run of the game in the third inning off of a one out solo home run, making the score 2-1.
The Bulldogs took the lead with two runs in the fifth inning. After the Trojans retired the first two batters, a hit batter and a walk put runners on first and second. A blooper over second base by the Bulldogs number two hitter allowed both runs to score, making the score 3-2.
The Trojans tied things up with a single run in the sixth. Nikki Hollett led off with a single up the middle and was replaced by Ashley Adkins at first base. After a sacrifice bunt by Rocky Paige moved her to second, another all-tournament performer in Courtney Cherry delivered with a single, placing runners on the corners with one out. A pop out in the infield brought Harris up with two outs.
The Trojans left fielder continued her hot hitting weekend with an RBI single to the gap in right center to tie the score 3-3.
The Bulldogs got the run back in the bottom of the inning. A leadoff single and sacrifice bunt put a runner on second with one out. Williams got the next Bulldog to pop up, making two outs. However, a single up the middle was enough to score the runner from second, giving Mississippi State a 4-3 lead.
The Trojans will next travel to Honolulu, Hawaii for a seven day spring break trip. The Trojans will take on the Rainbow Wahine in a doubleheader on Wednesday and then will take part in the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
