Troy Faces Miami University Saturday

Troy men's basketball plays its first game in a week, when the squad faces Miami University on Saturday afternoon.

Tip-off is set for 3:30 pm central time on Saturday afternoon in Miami (Ohio)'s Millett Hall.

The Trojans (1-6) are in the midst of a six-game losing skid. Their most recent loss came last Saturday at the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks, 75-60.

The loss stretched Troy's string of defeats to six games – the second longest losing streak in the program's Division I tenure.

Troy has been lead throughout by a trio of seniors. Vernon Taylor leads the squad and ranks second in the Sun Belt in scoring (16.7 ppg).

Forward Levan Patsatsia is leading the team in minutes played while averaging 12.5 ppg and 5.7 rpg. He is second on the squad with 13 assists and leads the team with nine steals.

Fifth-year senior Bernard Toombs has been a monster in the paint. He has led Troy in rebounding in five of seven games this season and his per game average of 9.4 rpg is third in the league and ranks 44th nationally.

Toombs is also scoring 10.6 ppg and leads the team in field goal percentage (50 percent, 32-of-64).

The RedHawks are 4-5 on the year and are coming off a 76-57 win over Division II Saginaw Valley State on Tuesday. Miami (Ohio) is led by junior big man Julian Mavunga.

Mavunga leads the squad in minutes (34.3 mpg), rebounds (6.6), assists (19), blocks (10) and scoring (13.3 ppg). He is joined in double-figures by Nick Winbush (11.3 ppg) and Antonio Ballard (10.7 ppg).

The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
