Troy hosts WKU December 1 to open up conference play

CINCINNATI, Ohio – All-Americans Ta'Shia Phillips and Amber Harris combined for 44 points to lead fifth-ranked Xavier to a 99-37 victory over Troy University in non-conference action Friday afternoon.

Phillips scored 19 of her 29 points in the first half, while Harris scored 12 of her 16 points in the first half to lead Xavier (4-0) to the victory. The duo combined to shoot 20-for-28 from the floor in the victory for the Musketeers. Harris also added 18 rebounds for Xavier.

Meanwhile, Troy (1-5) was led by Sophie Kleeman with 10 points in the loss. Donette McNair added nine points in the loss for the Trojans, connecting on 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Jamesha Blake added seven in the loss.

Xavier placed an additional two players in double figures with Lynette Holmes added 12 off the bench and Megan Askew scoring 11.

Xavier shot 55.1 (38-for-69) percent from the floor and just 18.8 (3-for-16) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 60.6 (20-for-33) percent from the free throw line, while outrebounding the Trojans 54-25.

Troy shot 23.1 (12-for-52) percent from the floor and 27.3 (3-for-11) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 62.5 (10-for-16) percent from the free throw line.

The Trojans will have four days before their next game, opening up Sun Belt Conference play against WKU on December 1. The game will be played at Sartain Hall, with tip scheduled for 7 pm and can be heard on WTBF-94.7 FM.
