Troy is off until Friday when they face South Alabama at Sartain Hall

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University Trojans volleyball team fell to the WKU Lady Toppers 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-11) in Sun Belt Conference action Saturday afternoon at Sartain Hall.

Troy (10-13, 2-4 Sun Belt) was led on the afternoon by sophomore Devin Von Pingel, who recorded eight kills and a .190 attack percentage. Meanwhile, junior Brittany McClelland added five kills for the Trojans on the afternoon.

In the first set, the Lady Toppers took an 8-3 lead before Troy was able to form a rally with kills from McClelland and junior Natasha Kolunija to close the deficit to 9-7. However, WKU would not relinquish the lead, however, kills from senior Megan Henderson and freshman Alexandra Alexander got the Trojans within seven at 18-11 before WKU was able to close out the opening set.

The second set was tied three times, before WKU was able to pull away. Kills from Von Pingel, Henderson and senior Victoria Rogoschewsky got the Trojans within six at 16-10. The Lady Toppers continued to push the margin wider, but kills from Von Pingel and McClelland kept Troy in the set, until WKU was able to take the set going into intermission.

The third set was tied at 2-2 with a kill from sophomore Kayla Giles until WKU was able to take the biggest lead of the day over Troy. At 18-3, Troy formed a rally with kills from Rogochewsky and Von Pingel to bring the score to 19-9. But from there, WKU took control of the set and closed the match.

Troy's next match will be Friday October 15th at 7 p.m. in Sartain Hall. The Trojans will face the South Alabama Jaguars in their annual "Dig For The Cure" game.
