Trojans Prepare For Final Homestand Of Season

Troy will recognize the 2010 Homecoming Court on Friday and the Trojan Seniors on Saturday

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University Trojans volleyball program will play their final two home matches of the season this weekend inside Sartain Hall, when they host the Florida Atlantic Owls and the FIU Golden Panthers on Friday and Saturday night.

"This is another huge conference weekend for us." head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said. "We need to figure out a way to get back on the winning track. We are excited to host Florida Atlantic and FIU this weekend, and we look forward to getting back in the conference race."

Troy (10-16, 2-7 Sun Belt) will face Florida Atlantic (10-15, 1-8 Sun Belt) Friday night at 7 pm, in a series that the Trojans trail 12-6; including a 3-4 record against the Owls at home. They will then turn their attention to FIU (11-10, 5-4 Sun Belt) on Saturday night at 7 pm. FIU leads the all-time series with the Trojans 9-0.
It will be a busy weekend with promotions for the Trojans, as they will recognize the 2010 Homecoming Court at intermission of the match with Florida Atlantic on Friday. The court will be recognized between the second and third set, with the winner being announced November 13 at the football game against FIU. The on Saturday, the Trojans will honor their two seniors in Megan Henderson and Victoria Rogoschewsky prior to the beginning of the match.

Troy is led in conference play by Megan Henderson, sophomore Devin Von Pingel and freshman Courtney Cohen. Henderson continues to be a leader for Troy, recording 276 assists and averaging 8.36 assists/set. She has also registered 44 kills in conference play for the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Von Pingel leads the Trojans in kills in conference play, recording 72 kills and averaging 2.18 kills/set. She has a .216 attack percentage and has recorded a total of 17 blocks. Cohen proves to be Troy's top defensive star, as she has recorded 98 digs and is currently averaging 4.67 digs/set.
