Troy faces North Texas and Denver over the weekend

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University Trojans volleyball team travels west this weekend to take on West Division schools North Texas and Denver in Sun Belt Conference action.

"This is a huge weekend for us," head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said. "We need to play well and find a way to finish our matches. The team knows what we need to do to get wins this weekend."

Troy will face the Mean Green of North Texas on Friday night at 7 pm, a series in which North Texas leads Troy 4-2. Troy is 1-2 while facing the Mean Green in Denton.

The Trojans will then head to Denver to face the Pioneers Sunday afternoon at 1 pm, looking for their first win in the series. Troy has not beaten Denver since joining the Sun Belt, as the Pioneers lead the series 6-0.

Troy is led in conference play by senior Megan Henderson and juniors Brittany McClelland and Natasha Kolunija. Henderson has recorded 35 kills with a .312 attack percentage, while also adding 226 assists, averaging 9.04 assists/set in conference play.

Meanwhile, Kolunija has recorded 65 kills, averaging 2.60 kills/set with a .228 attack percentage in conference play for the Trojans. McClelland has proven to be a big hitter for the Trojans recording 66 kills, averaging 2.64 kills/set. She has recorded a .222 attack percentage and 13 total blocks.
