Sun Belt Play Begins For Trojans

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Troy Trojans softball team opens up conference play on Tuesday against the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee.
Troy and Middle Tennessee have had an opportunity to scout face-to-face recently. The Trojans and Blue Raiders played in the Florida State Invitational over the weekend. Both teams played common opponents, and both teams got an opportunity to see strengths and weaknesses.
Trojans head coach Melanie Davis believes that should make for an interesting series.
"We're opening up Sun Belt Conference play, and we both want to get off to a good start," Davis said. "It's a matter of us needing to go in and build off of the good things we did this weekend, and getting some final preparations done before we head to Murfreesboro."
Troy lost two-of-three to the Blue Raiders last season, and Davis said the Trojans are motivated by that fact alone.
"We're excited about the upcoming stretch of conference games," Davis said. "We're looking forward to putting all of our hard work and practice on the field against good, quality, league competition."
Troy (17-6) and Middle Tennessee (4-10) will face in a double-header on Tuesday starting at 1 p.m. with game two to follow. The Trojans and Blue Raiders will face for game three on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
