Troy Baseball To Host Exhibition Sunday

The Troy University baseball team will play its annual fall exhibition game against the Ontario Blue Jays this Sunday.
The game will start at 1 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field. Admission is free. The teams will play a pair of seven-inning games.
The Trojans have 18 new players on the fall roster to go with 19 returning players. Th squad features a mix of 13 seniors, eight juniors, six sophomores and 10 freshmen.
Among the returning players for Troy are six returning position starters, including a pair of starting shortstops -- Bart Pettus and Adam Bryant -- outfielders Chad Watson and Miles Hoyle, first baseman Ryan Ditthardt and catcher Steven Felix.
Other returnees who saw significant playing time last year are infielders J.R. Myers and Shohei Fujita, outfielder Steven Rosado and catcher Blake Martz.
The Troy pitching staff returns several players as well, including sophomore starting pitcher Tyler Ray, who was named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year in 2009.
Other returning pitchers are right-handers Robby Loew, Drew Hull, Tim Wheeler and Andrew Dickinson along with left-handers A.J. Howard and Jordan Mathers.
This will be the fourth straight year for the Ontario club, an 18-and-under team, will make the stop in Troy on their way to Florida for a wood-bat tournament. The players on the team hail from across Ontario.
