Trojans Fall to MTSU to Lose Series

The Trojans (28-21, 14-10) got on the board in the top of the first inning as Adam Bryant led off the game with a single up the middle. Bryan Miller followed with a walk and both runners scored on a RBI single to right field just over the outstretched glove of Taylor Dennis from Michael Precise for the early 2-0 lead.
MTSU (24-21-1, 12-14) put two runs on the board in the home half of the second inning when Rawley Bishop lead off with a double. Bryce Brentz was hit by a Jeff Green fastball and took first. Nathan Hines and Tyler Burnett both singled to tie the game at 2-2.
The Blue Raiders added two runs in the home half of the third inning when Zach Barrett singled and Bishop walked. Brentz and Hines singled plating both runners for the 4-2 MTSU lead.
Miller kept his hitting streak in tact at 15 games with a solo home run to lead off the sixth inning that closed the score to 4-3.
Green (4-1) got the start on the hill for the Trojans and went four and a third innings and allowed four runs on seven hits. He walked three and struck out two in the outing.
Freshman A.J. Howard followed and gave up two runs on one hit while waking one and striking out one.
Senior Rob Brown came in to face one batter in the sixth inning but Brown walked the hitter to turn the ball over to Storm.
Storm came in with the bases loaded with two outs and gave up a two-run single to pad the MTSU lead at 6-3. He finished the game by going the final two and a third innings and allowed
Chad Edwards (4-1) got the win for Middle Tennessee by going six innings and allowing three runs on six Trojan hits. Brett Smalley (3) got the save by tossing the final two and a third innings and did not allow a hit while walking two and striking out one.
The Trojans were led at the plate by Precise, who had three hits and a walk to go with two RBI. Bryant had two singles and Miller had the home run and two walks.
