“This was a big sweep for us this weekend,” coach Bobby Pierce said. “Anytime you can go on the road and win three games is a big deal. I am glad for this team and we have to keep rolling because it doesn't get any easier.”
WKU eighth inning answered back with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning closing the gap to 8-6. Lance Miller scored on a single from Brooks in the top of the eighth for an insurance run at 9-6.
Trevor Tyre led off the Trojans first inning with a single up the middle with the first hit of the game. Brooks doubled down the right field line scoring
WKU answered right back with a run in the bottom half of the first inning. Scott Kaskie drew a lead-off walk and scored on a single from Wade Gaynor. Gaynor was thrown out by Daniel Porter trying to stretch a single into a double.
Tyre belted his third home run in the top of the third inning when he hit a fast ball over the wall in left field giving Troy the 2-1 lead.
The Hilltoppers plated two runs in the fourth inning when Matt Hightower drew a leadoff walk.
