NEW ORLEANS - Troy senior Courtney Davis has been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for the week of February 20-24 as announced by the league office on Monday.
In four games Senior Courtney Davis batted .500 (6-for-12) with four home runs and eight RBI's, breaking out in the season's third week with a stellar performance at the Hokies United Memorial Tournament.
She also had two doubles and scored five times. She hit two home runs against Rider as Troy defeated the Broncs 10-1 in six innings. Davis also belted a two-run home earlier on Sunday in a 4-2 loss to Winthrop.
The previous day on Saturday, Davis blasted a two-run homer to centerfield against Saint Josephs. She only struck out once in 12 at-bats, and was perfect in the field.
The award is the first of the season for Trojans and the first of Davis' career at Troy. Davis and the Trojans return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to meet the Florida State Seminoles in a double-header.
