Trojans Open 2008 Season Against Rhode Island

“We are very anxious to get the season started,” coach Bobby Pierce said. “We are ready to play somebody other than ourselves and I am ready to see us play.”
The Trojans will take the field Friday with very little experience returning from last season following the departure of several key players.
“We are not necessarily a young team this year,” Pierce said. “I would say that we are an untested team. We will have several guys playing this weekend that are very good players but do not have D-I experience.”
“That is something that I am looking forward to seeing out of our club this weekend.”
Senior Ryan Ellison will take the hill Friday night against the Rams. Ellison posted a 3-3 record in 2007 in 18 appearances.

The second game Saturday will see sophomore Tim Wheeler. Wheeler led the Trojans last season with 30 appearances while posting a 4-1 record as a freshman.
The Sunday finale will bring forth another newcomer in junior Andrew Dickinson.
The Trojans will play a single game Friday night followed by a double-header on Saturday and will conclude with a single game Sunday morning. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. for the Friday opener.
