South Alabama Wins Final Two Games Against Troy to Win the Series

MOBILE Ala.- For the second straight day, a South Alabama pitcher went the distance against the Trojans as Troy fell to the Jaguars 8-1.
South Alabama (29-24, 13-16) got on the board in the first inning when Lance Heisler doubled followed by a walk and a single to Clint Toomey and Jeff Cunningham. The runners came around to score on a double by Joel Collins who scored on a sacrifice fly from Ryne Jernigan for the 4-0 lead.
Troy (33-23, 16-14) scratched a run across in the ninth inning when senior Kevin Weidlich singled and moved to third on a single form sophomore Brett Henry. Weidlich scored on an RBI single form freshman Steven Felix for the only run of the game.
South added a run in each of the last five innings to increase their lead to 8-1.
Junior Ryan Ellison (3-3) got roughed up early as he only pitched one inning while giving up three run on three hits and he also walked three.Freshman Tim Wheeler pitched an inning and walked two batters. Junior Neal Jordan and senior Jonathan Sabat tossed the final six innings to close out the game.
Junior Kevin Neighbors (2-1) threw the second complete game of the weekend for the Jaguar pitching staff. Neighbors went the distance allowing only one run on 10 hits while striking out six batters and walking one. He threw 115 pitches in the win.
The Trojans will return to Mobile Tuesday night for the Sun Belt Conference Awards dinner. Troy's game time will be determined by the result of the Louisiana-Lafayette game with New Orleans. With a ULL win, Troy will play at 9 a.m. With a UNO win , Tory will play at 4 p.m.
