Mississippi State Beats Troy, 12-4

STARKVILLE, Miss.- The Trojans fell to Mississippi State for the second time in the Cadence Bank Classic by a score of 12-4.
The Trojans (9-6), committed four errors in the fifth inning blowing the gates wide open as the Bulldogs scored four runs in the inning.
Troy got on the board first when Senior Ian Craze led off the game with a walk. A sacrifice bunt by sophomore Brett Pierce moved Craze to second. Senior Josh Dew singled up the middle scoring Craze.
State (6-1), answered back in the second and third inning with two runs in each inning.
Troy added three more runs in the seventh when senior Ben Woods and Edgar Ramirez both singled. Senior Clint Robinson doubled to left center scoring both runs. The double was Robinson's seventh double of the season.
The Bulldogs scored a run in all but two innings. In four of the seven innings, the Bulldogs scored multiple runs.
The Trojans were led by Dew, who was 3-for-4. Robinson had two hits while Craze had one.
Jeff Green (1-1) took the loss on the mound. Green threw 3.2 innings allowing four hits and giving up four runs.
The loss for the Trojans was their third loss of the weekend. Troy returns to action next weekend as they open conference play with Middle Tennessee.
Troy will look to defend their 2006 conference title. All three game will be at Riddle-Pace Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
