Billikens Visit For Weekend Baseball Series

The Trojans have put together their second three-game win streak of the season thanks to Wednesday night's 8-3 victory over Jacksonville State. Freshman Steven Morelock earned his second win of the season with six shutout innings on the mound against the Gamecocks.
Saint Louis comes into the weekend with a 1-4 record after dropping an 8-3 decision at Southeast Missouri State on Wednesday.
The Troy offense continued to produce runs with timely hitting. Senior Adam Godwin doubled his season RBI total with a three-run triple in the second inning to highlight a five-run frame for the Trojans. It was the second biggest inning for Troy this year, trailing only the six-run 10th inning outburst in the season-opener at McNeese State.
Senior catcher Henry Gutierrez comes into this weekend's series with an eight-game hit streak for the Trojans. He has recorded 10 hits in 17 at bats when leading off an inning this year.
The Trojans will send senior RHP Landon Brazell (2-0, 3.00) to the mound of Friday to face SLU sophomore RHP Ryan Bird (0-0, 9.90). Another senior RHP, Brent Adcock (2-1, 4.11) will get the call on Saturday against the Billikens' junior LHP Tim Landy (1-1, 9.58).
Sunday's matchup has not yet been determined, but will likely feature LHP Morelock (2-1, 4.67) against freshman RHP Lance Rhodes (0-1, 5.40). Both freshman had extensive work in games on Wednesday.
The All-Time Series
This will be the first meeting between the Trojans and Billikens on the diamond. Troy is 6-3 all-time against schools from the state of Missouri. The Trojans are 2-3 against Central Missouri State, 3-0 against Missouri-Rolla and 1-0 against Missouri Southern.

- Bobby Pierce (Alabama, ?˜82) is in his third season at Troy and has a 70-52 record after guiding the Trojans to a 36-22 record a year ago. In Pierce's second season, Troy finished fifth in the A-Sun regular season race and then advanced to the championship round of the conference tournament. In his career as a head coach, Pierce has won 605 games in his 17 seasons as a collegiate head coach, including 259 at Chipola (Fla.) Junior College. His record at four-year schools stands at 346-160 and he is in his 10th season.Saint Louis - Bob Hughes (SIU-Edwardsville, 1975) is in his 17th season at Saint Louis and has a 301-533-1 overall record. Prior to taking over the program at SLU he was a successful junior college coach.

It was freshman left-hander Steven Morelock's turn to take the mound for Troy, and he turned in an inspired performance against the Gamecocks. The Abbeville native worked six shutout innings, allowing just four hits while walking three and striking out five. He allowed just one runner past second base.t
Junior right-hander Tony Falls worked the final three innings to earn his first save for the Trojans. Falls recorded a pair of saves during the 2002 season while playing at UAB.t
Senior Adam Godwin recorded just his second extra-base hit of the season, but he made it count. Godwin's three-run triple in the second inning capped a five-run frame for Troy. Godwin also was thrown out trying to steal in the first inning. It was just the second time he has been caught stealing in 12 attempts this year.t
Junior second baseman Bryan Madril took sole possession of the team home run lead with a solo shot leading off the sixth inning.
