Saturday, March 19 • 1 p.m.
Sunday, March 20 • 1 p.m.
The Trojans will make the first of five Atlantic Sun Conference road trips this weekend to face the always tough Belmont Bruins. Belmont is comig off an 8-5 victory over Tennessee on Tuesday night, but the Bruins dropped two of three in their opening conference series to Jacksonville.
Troy comes into the series riding a bit of a roller coaster. The Trojans have continued to get outstanding pitching, but, at times, the offense has sputtered, or the defense has let the team down. Over the last seven games the team has alternated wins and losses and over the last 10 games the Troy pitching staff has allowed more than three earned runs in a game only once.
Troy will send senior right-hander Landon Brazell (4-0, 2.75) to the mound on Friday against Belmont right-hander Ben Meador (3-1, 2.57). Senior right-hander Brent Adcock (2-1, 3.81) will pitch on Saturday against Belmont right-hander Cody Blackard (3-1, 2.60). Freshman left-hander Steve Morelock (3-2, 3.31) will get the call for the Trojans on Sunday to face Belmont right-hander Justin Jordan (1-1, 6.33).
Since joining the Atlantic Sun Conference in 1999, the Trojans have had just one winning season in conference road games. Troy was 3-12 on the road in 1999, 7-11 in 2000, 4-9 in 2001, 6-9 in 2002 and 7-8 in 2003. Last year's record of 9-8 in league road games gave Troy an overall record in A-Sun road games of 36-56.
No makeup date has been set as of yet for the Auburn game, which was postponed by rain on Tuesday.
The All-Time Series
The Bruins hold a 6-4 lead in the all-time series, which started in 1994. Over the last three seasons the teams have played three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series, and the Bruins have won the last two series 2-1. The Bruins hold a 3-1 series lead against Troy in Nashville.
