Gary M. Wilbert, II joined the Troy staff in July 2015 as the Director of Development / Trojan Warrior Club and was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director of Development in April of 2019.  After serving 12 months in his previous role, he was elevated to his current position of Associate Athletics Director for Development in May 2020 and then to Chief Development Officer in February 2022.
In his current role, Wilbert is directly involved in all fundraising and donor loyalty programs associated with the Trojan Warrior Club and coordinates donor hospitality functions and operations within the athletic suites. Additionally, Wilbert is responsible for the development and execution of various revenue streams including annual giving, major gifts and suite sales.
Since his arrival to Troy, Wilbert has grown unrestricted philanthropic gifts by over 1,100 percent, setting new records year by year for the Trojan Warrior Club program. Furthermore, he has closed a number of major gifts of $25,000+ which saw a new record from a quantity standpoint for Troy Athletics Development in 2019.  Â

Prior to coming to Troy, Wilbert spent two years with the Aspire Group Inc., at Louisiana Tech and Towson. He began his career as a sales consultant at Louisiana Tech in 2013 and led the Louisiana Tech FRMC in overall sales, in addition to being the leading sales representative for all of the Conference USA FRMC properties for 10 straight months.

Wilbert was promoted to a senior sales consultant at Louisiana Tech before moving into a managerial position at Towson in 2014.

A native of Schererville, Ind., Wilbert earned his bachelor’s degree at Bowling Green in 2009 and his master’s degree at Mississippi State in 2012. Wilbert worked in Mississippi State’s development office while pursuing his master’s degree.Â

Before pursuing his graduate degree, Wilbert gained experience in strength and conditioning at Notre Dame in 2009 and the University of Findlay in 2008.
