Adam Godwin was named Troy's Executive Director of Development and Letterwinner Engagement in August 2026 more than six years as a member of the Troy baseball staff.
Godwin is a highly accomplished collegiate athletics leader with more than 20 years of experience in NCAA Division I athletics, Major League Baseball organizations, fundraising, recruiting, player development and organizational leadership. In his first year with Troy Baseball program, Godwin helped generate more than $150,000 through the program’s Diamond Club fundraising initiative.
The success off the field also translated to success on the field, as Godwin was part of a staff that developed 18 All-Sun Belt student-athletes and 17 Major League Baseball Draft selections.
Troy reached the pinnacle of the collegiate baseball world in 2026, with Godwin serving as the program’s outfield and baserunning coordinator. The Trojans finished the season ranked No. 6 in the country, won the Gainesville Regional and swept the Troy Super Regional to advance to the College World Series in Omaha, where they defeated Ole Miss.
In his first season as Troy's outfield & base running coordinator, the 2025 Trojans finished with a 39-21 record and reached a No. 14 national ranking, the highest in program history. With Godwin coaching first base, Steven Meier finished third in the Sun Belt with 24 stolen bases while the Troy offense ranked second in the Sun Belt in on-base percentage (.403) and walks (323) and fourth in runs per game (7.0) and OPS (.837). Additionally, the Trojans set a school record for hit-by-pitch (122) and were the only team in college baseball to finish the regular season in the top 20 nationally for both walks and hit-by-pitch.
In 2024, Godwin assisted in Troy’s 37-win season, which saw them finish third in the Sun Belt Conference and reach a No. 21 national ranking. The Trojans were among one of the top offenses in college baseball, ranking in the top 15 nationally in walks (third – 382), on-base percentage (eighth – .424) and runs per game (14th – 8.7). In addition, Troy led the Sun Belt Conference with six players on the All-Conference Teams. Brooks Bryan led the Sun Belt and set a new Troy record with 85 RBIs while Kole Myers led the conference with 34 stolen bases.
In his second season as an assistant coach, Godwin coached a Troy program that won 40 games for the fifth time in the last two decades and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018 in the Tuscaloosa Regional. The Trojans would also advance to the quarterfinal round as the No. 3 seed of the Sun Belt Tournament. Under his guidance, Troy ranked in the top three for walks (third – 306), double plays (second – 51), double plays per game (third – 0.82), home runs (second – 108), home runs per game (third – 1.74), runs (second – 476) and triples per game (second – 0.31). Godwin also coached two All-Sun Belt members, Shane Lewis and Caleb Bartolero.
During his first season as an assistant coach in 2022, Godwin led Troy to 32 wins, including a nine-game winning streak, the most since 2006. Troy also swept Big Ten opponent Indiana and SBC rival Louisiana for the first time.
Before being promoted to assistant coach, Godwin spent two seasons as Troy’s director of player performance and development. Four Trojans earned All-America honors in his two years on staff, including a trio of Freshman All-Americans (Caleb Bartolero, William Sullivan and Garrett Gainous). Before COVID-19 halted the 2020 season, the Trojans led the Sun Belt and ranked fourth nationally with 46 doubles in 17 games.
Godwin was responsible for coordinating the practice and game technology concepts within the program, including TrackMan, Rapsodo, Synergy and BATS. He also assisted the athletics development office in fundraising for the baseball program and played a key role in planning and designing the new Riddle-Pace Field enhancement.
In 2021, Troy finished third overall in the Sun Belt Conference after leading the league with 2.0 doubles per game and ranking second batting at a .274 clip. In addition, Logan Cerny and Drew Frederic both earned all-league honors, with Cerny leading the Sun Belt in slugging percentage and triples, while Frederic ranked in the top 10 in hits, runs scored, home runs and stolen bases.
Godwin joined the Troy staff in 2020 after six years coaching in the Pittsburg Pirates' and Philadelphia Phillies' organizations. He began his coaching career as the Bristol Pirates’ and Morgantown Black Bears’ first and third base coach. During the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Godwin assisted the Pirates’ Bradenton Marauders (High-A) as a traveling coach and led base running, outfield, and bunting instruction in addition to acting as the third base coach.
He spent the 2019 season with the Phillies' Single A Lakewood Blue Claws where he was the third base coach. Additionally, he was the outfield/base running coach for the Phillies Dominican Republic Academy in the fall of 2018 and the 2019 Instructional League Outfield Coordinator.
He began his playing career with Troy in 2004 and quickly climbed the record books in his two years with the Trojans. A member of Troy baseball’s 2013 Hall of Fame class, he still holds Troy’s career record for stolen bases with 112, and his .374 batting average is seventh all-time.
In 2005, Godwin led the NCAA and set Troy’s single-season record with 84 stolen bases. He also set the single-season record for singles (75) and is fifth in hits (90). For his efforts, Godwin was named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year and a second-team All-American. Following his Troy career, Godwin was selected in the 11th round of the 2005 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers and played professionally for 10 seasons.
He comes from a family with strong athletic and Troy ties. His father, Al, coached with Charlie Bradshaw at Troy; his mother, Karen, was a majorette with the Sound of South; his sister, Shelley, is the women’s tennis coach at Kentucky; and his brother, Ben, worked with Alabama Football and the SEC Office and was instrumental in the launch of the MLB Network.
Godwin is married to the former Kelly Hawkins, and the couple has one daughter, Micah Mae and one son, Griffey.
