Former Troy baseball standout Logan Pierce begins his first season as volunteer assistant coach with the Trojans program.
Logan, son of Troy head coach Bobby Pierce, completed a stellar career with the Trojans in 2013, batting .317 with 17 homeruns and 153 RBIs over his three-year tenure. He is tied with Jorge Soto for the Troy career walk record with 125. Pierce is also tied for second in doubles (55), tied for third in runs (213), fourth in at-bats (672), tied for fifth in runs (147) and eighth all-time in games played (182). For his senior season effort, in which he batted .364 and put together a reached base streak of 47 games, Pierce was named Louisville Slugger All-American and First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference as a third baseman.
Logan was selected in the 15th round (451st overall pick) by the Philadelphia Phillies during the 2013 MLB First Year Player Draft. He played one season for the Phillies Class-A affiliate in Williamsport, Pa., where he batted .266 with five homeruns and 29 RBIs. In 2014, Pierce played for the Frontier Greys of the Frontier League.
Pierce was a prep standout at Charles Henderson High School under current Troy pitching coach Brad Phillips. He graduated from Troy in 2013 with a degree in sport and fitness management.
