Media Information
The staff of the Troy Athletics Media Relations office is eager to assist members of the media with all of their needs during the course of the season. Please contact our office at (334) 670-3832 for information regarding credentials, team and player information, interviews, statistics, travel plans, photography, video highlights, press conferences and satellite feeds.
The Troy Athletics Media Relations office has certain policies and procedures that we ask for you to abide by while covering the Trojans. These are for the benefit of your needs and those of Troy’s student-athletes and coaches. We ask that you please respect these requests in order to create a good working atmosphere for all parties involved.
Media Relations Office
The Troy Athletics Media Relations office is located on the Fifth Floor of the Movie Gallery Stadium Tower, which is located on Veterans Stadium Drive. Enter through the building’s front entrance and take the elevators to the Fifth Floor. The Media Relations staff offices are located down the hall to the right after exiting the elevators.
Credential Requests
The Troy Athletics Media Relations office will issue credentials to WORKING press only for games played at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium. Passes for spouses, children or friends will not be issued. The credentials are non-transferable. Any unauthorized use of a credential will result in the pass being revoked immediately.
Press passes will be distributed to those working in the press box. A Press Sideline pass will be issued to working media needing sideline access.
All credential requests should be made in writing by sports editors or directors of accredited media outlets on company letterhead. Requests should be made no later than Monday preceding that week’s game to be considered.
Credential requests should be sent to: Director of Athletics Media Relations, Troy University, Tine W. Davis Fieldhouse, Troy, AL 36082. Fax requests to (334) 670-5665. E-mail requests can be made to jehazel@troy.edu.
Working members of the media who plan to cover the Trojans on the road are encouraged to make credential requests through the Troy Athletics Media Relations office at least two weeks in advance of the scheduled contest. Media representatives covering opponents should contact their school’s media relations office to make requests.
Media Will Call
Credentials for all Troy home games will be mailed or distributed at the weekly press conference in most cases. Any unclaimed credentials will be available in the Troy Athletics Media Relations office until 5 p.m. on the Friday prior to the game and at the Media Will Call table inside the media entrance of Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium on gameday.
Media Access
All media members are asked to enter through the north entrance in the Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium Press Box, then take the service elevator to the fifth-floor press area. Radio, print and TV media are located on the fifth floor, with film and television crews positioned on the fourth-floor film deck.
Media Parking
Parking for the media is located off Luther Drive, in the lot directly across from Hamil Hall and adjacent to the University’s Track & Field/Soccer Complex.
Shuttle service will be available for all media in the lot up until 15 minutes before kickoff. Please notify the Troy Athletics Media Relations staff when requesting credentials if a parking pass will be required.
Mid-Week Interviews
Interviews of Troy's coaches and student-athletes are encouraged, and every effort will be made to accommodate media requests. All interviews should be coordinated through the Athletics Media Relations office.
Players and coaches are available together each Monday during the season at a weekly press conference. The press conference begins at 12:30 p.m. at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium, followed by lunch.
Players are GENERALLY available immediately following practice during the season. Phone interviews are also available at night, but student-athlete phone numbers are not available under any circumstances.
Mid-week interviews are allowed from Monday until the conclusion of practice on Wednesday. After that time, players are off limits until after that week's game.
Head coach Larry Blakeney is generally accessible to members of the media. The best time to reach him is from 10 a.m. to Noon at his office in the Tine W. Davis Field House. Interview requests are best arranged through the Director of Athletics Media Relations.
Post-game Interviews
Following a 10-minute “cooling off” period, a post-game press conference featuring Troy's coaches and players will take place in the Davis Field House Auditorium. The Troy Athletics Media Relations staff will poll the media prior to the end of the game to determine the players who will be at the press conference.
At home, Troy's locker room is off limits to media at all times. While on the road, the locker room may be opened. The visiting coach and players will be made available outside the visiting team's locker room behind the Davis Field House. The visiting sports information director should be consulted for that school's postgame policies.
Daily Practices
The Troy Athletics Media Relations staff encourages coverage of Trojan football not be limited to gameday. As a general rule, all practices are open to the media and public. There may be instances, however, when all or part of a practice session is closed. Please contact the Athletics Media Relations office in advance if you plan on attending a practice session so an escort can be made available. Daily practices typically run from 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m., with practice held from 6-8 p.m. on Mondays.
Monday Press Luncheon
Each week during the season, Troy head coach Larry Blakeney will hold a press conference on the fifth floor of Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium. The press conference will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by lunch.
The session will include lunch and a question-and-answer session with Coach Blakeney, members of the coaching staff and select Trojan student-athletes. Assistant coaches will also be available following lunch.
An audio replay of the press conference will be available on the Troy Athletics web site, www.TroyTrojans.com, by late Monday afternoon.
