Chuck Ash, ATC - Head Athletic Trainer / Assistant Professor

Ash enters his 23rd year working in the Athletics Department at Troy University, working as the Head Athletic Trainer for 19 of those years. He served as the school's Assistant Trainer from 1987-91. Ash coordinates all aspects of athletic training, including the supervision of students enrolled in the athletic training curriculum, in what has become one of the most respected programs in the country. Prior to coming to Troy, Ash was the head athletic trainer and baseball coach at Early County (GA) High School in Blakely. During his time in the high school ranks, he also worked closely with the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, GA. Ash received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Troy University in 1978, then earned his Master's in Education in 1979 while serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Ash was inducted into the 2008 Alabama Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame for his time as the Head Athletic Trainer at Troy. In May 2002, Ash was named College and University Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Alabama Athletic Trainers Association. In 2001, he was also granted membership in the prestigious American Sports Medicine Fellowship Society. The Lakeland, Fla. native is married to the former Marilyn Willis, also a Troy graduate and a teacher in the Troy City School System. The couple has two sons, Bubba and Cody. The couple also has a granddaughter, Preslie, daughter of Bubba and Malinda Ash. |
Diana Avery, ATC - Clinic Coordinator

Diana Avery has served as the Clinical Coordinator at Troy University for twelve years. She joined the athletic training staff at Troy University in 1997. Before coming to Troy University, she worked at Family Care Associated in Troy, Alabama (1994-1996). In 1992, she worked at Pike County Chamber of Commerce in Troy, Alabama. Prior to this, she worked at Montgomery Cardiovascular & Associates (1991) in Montgomery, Alabama and in 1989 the United Parcel Service in Lake Wales, Florida.
Diana received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Marketing and Business Administration from Troy State University. In her free time, Diana enjoys watching her twin sons experience the thrill of sports as she did as a young child. She also, enjoys the interaction among friends, family, and neighbors. |
Cherise Crisman, ATC - Assistant Athletic Trainer

Cherise Crisman is beginning her eleventh year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Troy. She works primarily with the Women's Soccer and Softball teams. She came to Troy from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama; where she served two years as the NAIA school Head Athletic Trainer. Cherise completed her B.S. in athletic training (1994) at Troy University. She completed her masters degree in health promotion at Auburn. (1997) In her free time, Cherise enjoys fishing and going to movies. |
Alyson Steed, ATC - Assistant Athletic Trainer

Alyson Steed is entering her sixth year as an Athletic Trainer at Troy. She joined the athletic training team in 2004 to work directly with the Men's Basketball team and providing High School Outreach to area schools. Since then, she worked with the Volleyball for three seasons and is currently in her second season with the Football team. Prior to this, she was a graduated assistant athletic trainer at Troy University (2001-'04) and the athletic trainer for Charles Henderson High School. Alyson received a B.S. in Athletic Training at Troy University (August 1999) and a master's degree in Education at Troy University (May 2004). In her free time, Alyson enjoys family, reading, home improvement, and outdoor activities. |

Kyle Blackman is entering his second season as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Football team at Troy. In 2007, Blackman received his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training with minors in Fitness and Coaching from Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana. He served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Colorado Crush, an Arena Football Team, in 2008. Blackman will receive his Masters of Science in Sport and Fitness Management in May 2010. A Lowell, Indiana, native, Kyle is the son of Rick and Denise Blackman. Blackman enjoys boating, Facebook, and relaxing. |

Sean Boland is entering his second season as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Troy Baseball team. He came to Troy from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga, after receiving a bachelors degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training in May 2008. Boland was the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers' Association intern in 2008 for the Atlanta Braves. He also served as an intern for the San Francisco Giants single-A organization, the Augusta GreenJackets, in the summers of 2006 and 2007. Boland was awarded the Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association Graduate Assistant Scholarship recipient in 2009. He is pursuing a masters degree in Sport and Fitness Management and will graduate in May 2010. Boland married the former Kellis Johnson of High Falls, Ga, in June 2008. They reside in Troy, Ala., with their two chihuahuas. |

Zul Hernandez is a second year Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer pursuing her masters degree in Sport and Fitness Management. She is currently working directly with the Volleyball and Men's and Women's Tennis teams at Troy. She spent last season overseeing the Men's and Women's Track and Cross Country teams. She received her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences/Athletic Training from University of Central Florida in May 2008. While at UCF, she worked Women's Rowing, Tennis, Baseball, Football. She spent a semester at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., where she gained experience in Men's Basketball and Lacrosse. Hernandez also spent a semester as an intern at International Sports Training Camp in Pennsylvania. A Puerto Rico native, Hernandez is the daughter of Israel Hernandez and Carmen Galindo. She has one sister, Nysa, who is currently a grad student at Florida International University. |

Lori Rackley is a second year Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer and has worked primarily with the Women's Basketball team and Cheerleading squad. She will receive her masters of science in Sport and Fitness Management in May 2010. Rackley attended The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Tex., and received her bachelors of science in Athletic Training in 2008. While at Mary Hardin-Baylor, she covered the Football, Softball, Volleyball, Baseball, and Men's Basketball teams. While in undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program, Rackley interned at the Scott and White Hospital Orthopedics Center in Temple, Tex., and worked closely with area high school football teams. Rackley served in the United States Army as a Combat Medical NCO from 1992-2008. While in active duty, she was deployed to Haiti in 1995. Rackley is married to CW3 Scott J. Rackley and they have two children, Madison, 12 years of age, and Tyler, 11 years of age. A Columbus, Ohio, native, she is the daughter of Don E. Ward and Brenda Stevens. |

Jeanetta Ford joins the Troy University Athletic Training Department as a first year Graduate Assistant, covering the Rodeo and Golf teams for the 2009-2010 season. She is pursuing a masters degree in Sport and Fitness Management. Ford is a graduate of Franklin College in Franklin, Ind., where she received her bachelors of arts in Athletic Training with minors in Fitness and Coaching. While at Franklin College, Ford did an internship at St. Vincent's Sport Performance Center in Indianapolis, Ind., where she worked with both professional athletes and youth sports. In the summer of 2009, Ford volunteered her athletic training skills with collegiate athletes in Southeast Asia. A Bedford, Ind., native, Ford is the daughter of Steve Ford and Cheryl LaClair. She has two brother and two sisters, Eric, Josh, Stephanie and Jessica. |

Ben Schuler, a native of Melbourne, Fla., joins the Athletic Training staff as a Graduate Assistant. His primary sport assignment is Track and Cross Country for the 2009-2010 season. Schuler received his bachelors degree in Athletic Training from University of Central Florida in May of 2009. While at UCF, Schuler worked with the Football, Men's Soccer, Softball, and Volleyball teams. He also interned at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., and Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando, Fla. Ben is the son of Mike and Cathy Schuler and has two sisters, Corinne and Elisabeth. Ben's hobbies include golf and movies. |

Amanda Andrews was named the Program Director for the Athletic Training Education Program at Troy University in 2008, making the transition from Assistant Curriculum Director, a position she held since 2003. Prior to this, she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at University of Southern Mississippi (2001-'03); where she worked track, cross country and women's soccer, while teaching classes for the HPER department. She was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Eastern Kentucky University (2000-'01); where she worked track and cross country and taught for the HPERD department. Amanda received a B.S. in Exercise Science at the University of Buffalo (2000), a M.S. in Physical Education from Eastern Kentucky University (2001), and a PhD in Human Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi (2003). In her free time, Amanda enjoys traveling, reading, shopping and playing golf. |

"Doc" Anderson is the department chair , the program director and assistant professor for the athletic training department. Prior to this, he was the Head Athletic Trainer at Troy University (FA 1967- FA 1979), and the Head Athletic Trainer at LSU (1980- 1989). "Doc" has worked on the USA Medical Team for track and field during the Olympic Games in '84, '88, '92, and '96. "Doc" Anderson graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Physical Education (1963). He received his M.S. from Troy University in Physical Education. (1970). In his free time, "Doc" enjoys running, lifting weights and cycling. |

Bettye Richards has been working at Troy since 1998. Before coming to Troy University, Mrs. Bettye worked at Dr. Wesley Berry's office, then became the Insurance Coordinator at Dr. Todd Pearlstein's office in Troy, Alabama. Mrs. Bettye graduated from Charles Henderson High School (1985), then completed Professional Business Studies at Coastal Institute in Montgomery, Alabama. (1988) In her free time, Mrs. Bettye enjoys reading, cooking jazz, soap operas, and socializing with friends and family. |
