Volleyball Hits the Road for Florida Invite

TROY, Ala. — Troy volleyball hits the road for the second consecutive weekend as they await a pair of matchups in the Florida Invite in Gainesville, Fla. On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Trojans take on Florida Atlantic, and on Sunday, Sept. 13, Troy faces No. 10 Florida.
The Trojans most recently dropped a four-set match to South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. on Sunday, Sept. 6. The Gamecocks held Troy to a .160 attack percentage despite Kalina Calvillo's 16 kills and Isa Ruether's 10.
FAU and Florida kick off the Florida invite on Friday, Sept. 11, when the two face off at 6 p.m. The Owls enter this weekend having lost two straight, while the Gators enter this weekend's invite on a three-game winning streak.

Seeing Double
In Sunday's loss to South Carolina, second-year setter Josie Hensley recorded the first Trojan double-double of the season. The Clearwater, Fla. native tallied 13 assists and tied for a team-high 10 digs. This marked the first double-double of Hensley's career.
Acing The Test
Entering this weekend, the Trojans rank first in the Sun Belt and 17th nationally in aces/set at 2.31. Calvillo currently leads the charge and ranks second in the conference and 23rd nationally at a 0.69 rate. Right behind Calvillo is Madison Marx, who posts a 0.54 rate — good for fifth in the SBC and 70th overall.

Florida Atlantic (3-2) enters Saturday's match on a two-game losing streak and 0-1 in neutral site contests. After beginning the season with three straight sweeps, The Owls dropped both matches of the Sunshine State Classic to FGCU and West Virginia. Florida Atlantic spread their offensive production, as four Owls have recorded 25 or more kills thus far. The offense is hitting .223 as a team and allowing opponents to hit .171.

No. 10 Florida (5-1) enters the weekend on a three-game winning streak and 2-0 at home. The Gators have been battle-tested to begin the 2026 season, as they have faced three ranked opponents thus far. The Gators topped No. 11 Minnesota in four sets before dropping a five-set match to No. 5 Wisconsin as a part of the Big 10/SEC Challenge. They then swept No. 20 Baylor in Waco, Texas. The Gators' Taylor Parks currently ranks 35th in the country in assists/set at a 10.19 rate.

- Isa Ruether's 10 kills at South Carolina marked the first time the first year outside hitter eclipsed double-digit kills.
- Kalina Calvillo has kept up her impressive offensive start to the season and has recorded double-digit kills in all four matches with a season-high of 16 against South Carolina.
