TROY, Ala. - Troy's Jimmy Janicki earned an invitation to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp on Wednesday.
Janicki, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, will head to North Carolina to participate in the training camp alongside 56 of the premier non-draft-eligible players in college baseball beginning June 27.
"We are pumped and honored for Jimmy to be the second Trojan in three years to be on Team USA," head coach Skylar Meade said. "He is one of the elite players in all of College Baseball and will be able continue to prove that on a global scale."
Following the training camp, USA Baseball will name the Collegiate National Team on July 5. The Collegiate National Team will represent the United States in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship from July 11-15 in Taichung City, Taiwan, competing against Korea, Japan and Chinese Taipei.Â
This season, the sophomore catcher leads Troy with a .349 batting average and leads the Sun Belt Conference in hits (91), home runs (19) and RBIs (85). His 85 RBIs are also tied for second nationally and are tied with Brooks Bryan's 2024 campaign for the most by a Trojan in a single season.
Janicki helped Troy punch a ticket to its first super regional in program history over the weekend, tallying 12 RBIs across five games in the Gainesville Regional. Janicki homered twice against Florida on Sunday before starting the score in Monday's regional final with a two-run double.
Janicki is the second player to represent Troy at the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp, following Bryan in 2024.
