The Trojan Report: A Monthly Update from the Director of Athletics

First in a lifetime. That's what I keep calling this magical run we've been on with Troy Baseball. Let's take a look back to the Gainesville Regional first. It was a hard-fought battle against Miami in the first game, where we came up just short. Then, with our backs against the wall, these guys continued to battle and show the true grit they possess. What followed were wins over Rider, Miami and twice against Florida, to win the Gainesville Regional in convincing fashion. And the legend of "Jabe Ruth" was born, further highlighting that any single player on this team can step up and make an impact.

Next up was the Troy Super Regional. Let that one sink in – our first time hosting a Division I regional was no ordinary Regional. It was a Super Regional with a shot at advancing to Omaha on the line. In just three days, the entire Troy community came together to put on one of the most impactful sporting events we've ever hosted. 6,426 fans packed Riddle-Pace Field, Tailgate Terrace and Veterans Memorial Stadium to see our Trojans prevail in Game One of the Super Regional. For the encore, we smashed that record again, with 7,033 fans in attendance to see Troy advance to its first-ever appearance in the College World Series.

I have been fortunate to be part of some special moments in my career. It will be hard to ever top the feeling that came with seeing our student-athletes celebrate a berth to Omaha at Riddle-Pace Field.

So many thoughts flooded my mind as I watched the dogpile unfold, with chants of "Omaha! Omaha! Omaha!" ringing throughout Riddle-Pace Field. But the number one thought that stuck with me was – WE did this. This moment was made possible by all of Troy coming together, united as one, to deliver the ultimate #OneTROY moment. We had won… but we were not done.

Last Wednesday, we officially landed in Troymaha (otherwise known as Omaha, Nebraska), and our Trojans were flooded with requests from the media. Everyone wanted to know the secret to our team's success. It's pretty easy but also complex – Troy Baseball Culture Wins.

Our team is battle-tested. They have hit low points throughout this season, but they have always bounced back and run toward the next challenge. That's what I'll always remember about this group, led by Coach Skylar Meade – they never back down. Those are life lessons that will stay with this group for decades to come.

Friday's game against West Virginia to open the College World Series was remarkable. More than 24,000 fans in attendance and countless others watching on ESPN saw firsthand how special this group is and how proud all of Troy is to have them wear the Cardinal and White.
On Sunday, we notched our first victory in program history at the College World Series … and we did it our way – down 6-2, we battled back. And the Trojan grit showed through as our team showcased what they have done all year – they never back down.

Today is a new day, and we have a chance at redemption against West Virginia. The winner will advance to the semifinals of the College World Series. Let's enjoy that one for a moment. But just for a moment, because as great as that sounds, it's what this team expected to do. And they expect to keep winning. Bring on whatever tomorrow may bring – our guys are ready for it.

I'm so proud of what these young men have accomplished. They are carrying the Troy flag high for all to see, and the more people around the country continue to see, the more they realize this isn't a flash in the pan. This has been building for years, and it's not just one sport. It's all our sports, united and pushing for greatness.

We are one of the premier Group of Six schools in the country. We're the only G6 school to have our football team in a bowl game, our men's basketball team in March Madness and our baseball team in the postseason.

There is only one way to keep this momentum rolling – TOGETHER. This is our moment. This is our time. If you've ever been on the fence, get off the sidelines and jump in with us now. Join the Trojan Warrior Fund. Step up to the Plate with us. Get in the game as a season ticket holder for all sports. These are the ways in which we can financially support our programs and our student-athletes. I am asking you to invest in our success – because without you, we do not reach these levels of unprecedented success.

This is our greatest moment in our program's history…at least for now. And that's what motivates me – what's next? What can we continue to accomplish together? We are Trojans, One and All. Let's go show the world what we're made of.
