TROY, Ala. – Troy Athletics handed out its top individual, team and academic awards on Wednesday evening at its 12th annual Trojan Tribute ceremony in Trojan Arena. Zay Dyer took home her second Female Athlete of the Year honors; Brantley Scott took home top male honors, while men's golf won #OneTROY Team of the Year after making the NCAA Tournament last spring.
For the second straight season, Dyer broke the single-season rebound record with 422. She also sat second in the country in double-doubles with 24, finishing her career with 49 – she ranks seventh among active D-I players. Dyer led Troy to its first-ever WBIT appearance after a runner-up finish in the Sun Belt Tournament and regular season. She capped off her career, winning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, All-Sun Belt First Team and All-Sun Belt Defensive Team.
Scott was named to both the PING and Golfweek All-American Teams as an honorable mention selection, becoming Troy's first All-American since 1993. After missing the fall, Scott earned All-Sun Belt First Team, leading the team in five of the eight tournaments in the spring and shooting under-par in six of those eight events. He led Troy to an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament, ranking as high as No. 46 in the country. He set program records in score vs. par (-0.54) and stroke average (70.96), ranking 41st nationally and qualifying for the U.S. Open Regional Qualifier.
Track athlete Kady Schwietz received the top honor of the year, the Trojan Way Leadership Award. This award is given to the student-athlete who is the epitome of a Troy student-athlete and is the true definition of a student-athlete leader both on campus and in the community.
Troy's top academic honors were given to soccer's Alaina Uncapher, cross country's Makenna Calbert and track's Kady Schwietz (Sorrell Award for the female graduating student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA) and baseball's Gavin Schrader and track's Jonas Koturena (Clements Award for the male student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA).
