Troy Tops Stetson, 4-3

DeLand, Fla. – With UNF in the rear view mirror the Troy women's tennis looked to defeat Stetson. The Trojans and Hatters exchanged blows, but ultimately Troy secured the victory, 4-3.
Troy started the day by claiming the doubles point. The duo of Leena Metwally and Alexia Zarate took down Clelia Lombardi and Yuki Mizuguchi of Stetson, 6-2. To secure the point Hiba Heni teamed with Emilia Namyslo to take down Stetson's Astigarraga Harper and Dana Baidaulet, 6-3.
Metwally carried her momentum into singles play where she defeated Dana Baidaulet in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3. The next Trojan to claim victory was Maria Guirguis. She toppled Kaita Tuliakova in two sets, 6-2 followed by 7-5.
With the match tied at 3, the final point of the day came down to Sama Hindawy's match against Clelia Lombardi. The two battled with Lombardi taking the first set 6-4, and Guirguis taking set two, 7-5. In the decisive third set, Hindawy proved to be too much for Lombardi dispatching of her, 6-2.
The Trojans will be back in action Friday for their home opener against Bethel. Action is set to begin at 11 am., from the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
