Troy Women’s Tennis Continues Play in The Samford Fall Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Day two of the Samford Fall Invitational continued with Troy facing both South Alabama and Jacksonville State. The day saw Troy go 1-2 in doubles play against the Jaguars while going 4-2 in singles.
In doubles play, the Trojans duo of Emilia Namyslo and Sama Hindawy knocked off Cristina Tchanichev and Jade Marie of South Alabama, 6-3. The duo of Namyslo and Hindawy is now 2-0.
Singles action saw Maria Guirguis take down JSU's Isabella Sambola in two sets, 6-1 and 6-3. Valeriia Avdeeva continued the singles momentum, only needing two sets to defeat Angeles Rodriguez Rizo, 6-2 followed by 6-3. Veena Nazar followed suit by dispatching Alba Roche again in two sets, 6-1.
The Trojans momentum was momentarily halted during Emilia Namyslo's battle with Sae Kaneko. After Kaneko took set one 6-0, Namyslo responded by taking set to 6-4. In set three, Kaneko proved to be too much, taking a 10-8 victory.
Sama Hindawy was the last Trojan to see singles action in day two. In two sets Hindawy shifted momentum back onto the Trojans' side, by taking set one 6-0 and set two 6-3.
