TROY, Ala. – Troy Athletics, in partnership with longtime supporter Horn Beverage and Folklore Brewing and Meadery, is proud to announce Blakeney's Brew, Troy's second officially licensed craft beer for Trojan fans to enjoy beginning this fall.
Named in honor of Troy's legendary football head coach Larry Blakeney, who will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December. Blakeney's Brew, a malty American Amber Ale, will officially debut to the public at Troy Football's season opener against Nicholls on Aug. 30 in The Vet.
Trojan fans can enjoy this 5.8% ABV beverage in 12-ounce cans at The Vet throughout the season. Following the initial in-stadium rollout, Blakeney's Brew will be available in stores and restaurants in the Wiregrass region. All sales of Troy's officially licensed beer will directly benefit Troy University and Troy Athletics.
The all-time winningest coach in both Troy and Sun Belt Conference history, Blakeney led the Trojans to eight conference titles while becoming one of only two coaches in history to guide a program from Division II ultimately to the Football Bowl Subdivision. He will become the first-ever player or coach in Troy history or Sun Belt Conference (tenure came during SBC membership) history to enter the College Football Hall of Fame.
Established in 2013, Folklore is Dothan's oldest brewery currently in operation. Producing a variety of beers, meads and seltzers, they have quickly become one of the most popular craft breweries in the Wiregrass and are proud partners with Horn Beverage.
Horn Beverage Company, incorporated in 1982, is a wholesale beer distributor that is a family-owned and operated business. The company is one of the City of Troy's largest employers and a strong supporter of charitable and economic development efforts throughout the region.
