Troy Student-Athletes Wrap Record-Breaking Semester in Classroom

TROY, Ala. – In addition to conference titles and deep runs in the postseason, Troy student-athletes were extremely successful in another avenue this year, setting numerous academic records thanks to their work in the classroom.
"In addition to the tremendous success our student athletes and programs have on the field and courts of competition, our student-athletes also continue to excel in the classroom," Troy Director of Athletics Brent Jones said.
Overall, Troy's student-athlete grade point average increased to a 3.20, with 11 of Troy's 16 athletic programs seeing an increase from the fall to spring semester. Additionally, 13 of 16 programs recorded a GPA of 3.0 or better, while seven programs finished with a 3.50 GPA or better.
All eight of Troy's women's programs finished with a 3.0 GPA or better during the spring semester, while 98 percent of all classes taken by Troy student-athletes resulted in a passing grade.
Volleyball finished the spring with a 3.78 GPA, the highest of any program, while men's golf posted a 3.57, the highest of any men's sport, all while reaching the NCAA Championship and finishing No. 29 in the country.
The spring semester culminated with a department record 55 student-athletes receiving their degrees during the Spring Commencement ceremony.
