Troy Impresses on Day Two of SBC Outdoor Championship

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Troy completed day two of competition at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Sentara Park. The Trojans scored in two events and advanced five more to Saturday's final.
Altwayne Bedward threw a personal best mark of 18.87m to place second in the men's shot put and score eight points for the Trojans. Joy Edward placed fourth in the women's shot put with a mark of 14.56m.
Shanyah Washington continued her dominance, running a blazing time of 11.39 in the 100m prelim race to advance to Saturday's final along with her 200m qualification from Thursday night. Tydreke Thomas ran the fastest qualifying time in the men's 100m with a windy personal best of 10.13. Michael Eady also qualified with a 10.45.
Haley Wilson extended her strong freshman campaign, running the third fastest qualifying time of 2:11.19 in the women's 800m. Jonas Koturenka won his heat with a time of 1:53.72 to earn the automatic qualification for Saturday's final.
The Trojans are back in action on Saturday for the final day of competition with the first event set to go off at 12 p.m. Fans can follow live results on TroyTrojans.com and watch on ESPN+ starting at 4 p.m.
