Troy Wraps Up Day One of SBC Outdoor Championships

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Troy wrapped up day one of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday at Sentara Park. The Trojans scored in three events and advanced two to the finals on Saturday.
Cadi Rowe placed seventh overall in the women's 10,000m with a time of 36:00.71 to score a point for the Trojans.
The freshmen class dominated the field for the men on day one, as Derrick Goll (55.19m) placed eighth in the men's hammer throw and Tyler McKinnell (56.82m) placed eighth in the men's javelin.
Shanyah Washington placed third in the women's 200m prelim with a personal best of 23.61 to advance to Saturday's final. Freshman phenom Aaliyah Murphy moved on to the 400m-hurdles final on Saturday with a time of 1:01.63.
Kady Schwietz scored 3,050 points on day one of the heptathlon and currently sits in third through the first four events.
