TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball program made its first addition to the 2026 roster by signing Sophia Jenkins from Grayson College on Friday morning.
"We are incredibly excited to add Sophia Jenkins to our softball program," head coach Eric Newell said. "Sophia is a special player in a lot of different ways. She has incredible power, a strong arm and is versatile defensively. Additionally, Sophia is a natural leader, and we are confident she will add a great locker room and dugout presence."
Jenkins is a 5-7 infielder / catcher from Grayson College who played 48 games her freshman season after initially signing with North Texas and redshirting. In her first season, the Katy, Texas native went 33-for-111 for a .297 clip on seven doubles, a triple and seven homers. She doubled and nearly tripled her numbers for her sophomore campaign with 88 hits, 14 doubles, a triple, 30 home runs and 194 total bases. She also claimed triple figures for RBIs with 108 (program record) on a .438 batting average, a .487 on-base percentage and a .965 slugging percentage through 63 games. Of her program record 30 homers, five were grand slams.
A James E. Taylor High School graduate, Jenkins led her program to the Southwest District A Region V Championship with a win over No. 7-ranked Odessa College. Then, she led the No. 4-seeded Vikings to a 3-2 record in the JUCO World Series with shutouts over Arizona Western College, 8-0, and Odessa College, 6-0. As a member of the Vikings, Jenkins earned All-District First Team, All-Region First Team, Offensive Player of the Year and NFCA All-Midwest Region First Team and is eligible for All-American and Golden Glove awards in June.
