TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team once again impressed in the classroom this season, as Valeriia Avdeeva, Gabrielle Leslie, Maria Guirguis and Emilia Namyslo were named Academic All-District, the College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday morning.
Avdeeva – a global business management major – ended this season with a 3.64 GPA and earned her way onto the list for the second consecutive year. The junior from St. Petersburg Russia had a strong season on the court, posting a 16-4 singles record. She was named to the All-Sun Belt Singles Second Team.
Also being named to the list for the second straight year is Guirguis, who has a 3.58 GPA while also majoring in global business management. Like Avdeeva, she was named to the All-Sun Belt Singles Second Team after posting a 14-7 dual record.
Leslie, a senior from Bridgetown, Barbados, is on the list for her second year in a row. She has a 3.7 GPA while majoring in criminal justice. She played in the top spot for the Trojans this season after winning 20 matches last year.
The final Trojan making the list was Namyslo, who was a key contributor for the Trojans during doubles play this season. The German sophomore has a 3.7 GPA while majoring in exercise science.
The 2025 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
