Gavin Schrader Named Week 5 Sun Belt Player of the Week

TROY, Ala. - Following a monster weekend at the plate with four extra-base hits and five RBIs, Troy outfielder Gavin Schrader was named Sun Belt Player of the Week.
Schrader is Troy's third Sun Belt Player of the Week through the season's first five weeks. Senior outfielder Shane Lewis was named Player of the Week for Week 1, with junior infielder Sean Darnell following with a Player of the Week honor in Week 2.
Schrader, a junior from Batavia, N.Y., went 6-for-12 at the plate during Troy's 2-1 series victory over Louisiana, posting a 1.821 OPS and recording two hits in each of the three contests.Â
The Niagara transfer made his second start of the season on Friday, recording a triple, and hit his first two home runs as a Trojan on Saturday and Sunday. Schrader collected five RBIs and drew two walks on the weekend, adding a two-run double on Sunday.
The No. 18 ranked Trojans are back in action on Tuesday with a 1 p.m. matchup with UAB at Rickwood Field in Birmingham. Troy returns home to Riddle-Pace Field this weekend with a series against No. 16 Coastal Carolina Friday-Sunday.
