Troy Earns No. 14 Seed in Midwest Region, Will Play No. 3 Kentucky in NCAA First Round in Milwaukee

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's basketball program is back in the Big Dance for the first time since 2017, as it drew the No. 14 seed in the Midwest Region and will play No. 3 Kentucky at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wis., on Friday.
Tipoff time and broadcast details will be announced at a later date. The game will also be available to watch on the NCAA March Madness Live App, Max and Paramount+.
"This a huge day for Troy Basketball and we're thrilled to be representing our university and community on a national stage," head coach Scott Cross said. "This will be an awesome opportunity to show the country what we're all about. Our players and staff have worked so hard to get to this moment and I cannot wait to get to Milwaukee and start competing."
Troy (23-10) earned the Sun Belt's automatic bid after winning the conference championship on Monday night in Pensacola, Fla., thanks to a 94-81 victory over Arkansas State. The Trojans' 23 wins are there most since the 2003-04 season. Troy enters March Madness with a six-game winning streak and won all three of its Sun Belt Tournament games by 13 or more points.
The Trojans entered Selection Sunday among the best teams in the country in a plethora of categories, including ranking 10th in steals (9.4), 11th in offensive rebounds (13.9), 25th in scoring defense (65.4), 26th in blocks (4.7), 27th in the field goal percentage defense (40.3), 28th in rebound margin (+5.6) and 30th in total rebounding (38.6).
Tayton Conerway, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, has been the engine behind the Trojans all season long. He leads the team in points per game (14.3), assists (4.8), steals (2.9) and minutes (30.4). His 2.9 steals per game is third in the country. The senior guard was named the Sun Belt Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Thomas Dowd, named to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team, is averaging 9.9 points and a team-high 6.8 rebounds.
Cross has guided the Trojans to four-straight seasons of 20-plus wins and 10-plus conference wins. His 103 wins at Troy are tied for third in program history with Wes Bizilia.
