JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - No. 18 Troy fell 11-1 to Jacksonville State in seven innings in Tuesday's midweek matchup at Rudy Abbott Field.

The Troy offense drew ten free passes on seven walks and three HBPs. However, their lone base hit came on an RBI single by second baseman Sean Darnell in the fifth inning. Darnell has recorded at least one RBI in his last three games and is tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference with 22 on the season.

Jax State put up three runs in the bottom of the first inning and knocked Troy starter Adam Falinski out of the ballgame after 1.1 innings. Falinski surrendered four hits with four runs, three earned runs, one walk and one strikeout. In total, the Gamecocks collected 13 hits on the evening.

Gamecock starter James Wilson went 4.2 innings and tallied six strikeouts. Wilson surrendered one earned run on one hit and five walks. Hard-throwing righty Joe Scarborough went 1.1 scoreless innings in relief while Ryan Geraghty pitched a hitless seventh.

For the Trojans, junior left-hander Brock Tapper was sharp in relief. The Northwest Florida State transfer went a career-high 3.2 innings, surrendering one run on four hits while picking up three strikeouts. Chase Nelson followed in the sixth, allowing one run on two hits. In the seventh, the Trojans recorded one out before the Gamecocks scored five runs off of a combination of Chase Cartron and Zak Szabo to put the 10-run rule in effect.

The Troy offense recorded one hit. It's Trojans' first time being one-hit since April 3, 2011, in an 8-0 loss to South Alabama.
Steven Meier drew a walk, extending his on-base streak to 24 games dating back to last season.
Sean Darnell went 1-for-3 with a single, a walk and an RBI, extending his on-base streak to nine games.
Blake Cavill drew two HBPs, extending his on-base streak to 24 games dating back to last season.
Mike Bello drew a walk, extending his on-base streak to 13 games.
Tyler LeJeune made his first career start, batting sixth and playing right field.
Jimmy Janicki drew a walk, extending his on-base streak to 11 games.

Brock Tapper pitched 3.2 innings in relief, which ties a career high. He pitched 3.2 innings against Arizona State (2/24/23) as a freshman at Mississippi State.
Tapper struck out three Jax State hitters, which is a season high and one shy of his career high.
Zak Szabo made his first appearance since March 18, 2023. Szabo redshirted the 2024 season due to injury.
