DABARY, Fla. – Katelynn Altese shot up the leaderboard for her best finish of the season to lead Troy women's golf at the Bab Steffens Invitational in the Trojans' spring opener. Troy finished in sixth place in the field of 15 teams.

Altese carded a pair of birdies in her round on Tuesday and finished 4-over on the day. She climbed five spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 12^th place. Both her birdies came on par-4 holes, with one on the 14^th and the other on the eighth.

Victoria Stutts paced the Trojans with eight birdies over the three rounds, good for sixth in the field, while Alyssa Mercado's 38 pars were the third most and Altese's 37 pars were eighth best. Laura Fangmeyer finished the week 1-under on the par-3 holes, second-best in the field.

The Trojans were solid in the par and birdie department as a team, finishing third with 166 pars and fifth with 24 birdies.

Troy entered the final round tied for fourth place but slipped a pair of spots after shooting 26-over on the day as a team. Stetson went wire-to-wire to claim the team title, while Jacksonville, Seton Hall, Queens and Keiser rounded out the top five.

Mathilda Ringblom wrapped up her best collegiate event in 26^th place at 17-over for the week after shooting an 83 on Tuesday, including a pair of birdies. Mercado finished a shot back in a tie for 27^th place with a card featuring one birdie, while Fangmeyer tied for 36^th place and Stutts tied for 46^th place: each carded three birdies in the final round.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Trojans as they head to Huntsville, Ala., and the RTJ Hampton Cove for the huntsville.org Intercollegiate on March 3-4.
