Shane Lewis Takes Home Sun Belt Player of the Week After Dominant Opening Weekend

TROY, Ala. - Following an explosive opening weekend at the plate, Troy outfielder Shane Lewis has been named the Sun Belt Player of Week. Â
Lewis batted .571 with a 2.769 OPS across 13 plate appearances on opening weekend, launching three home runs with one double, five RBIs and six walks. His three home runs are tied for the Sun Belt lead, while his six walks lead the conference. Â
The Vicksburg, Miss., native launched a three-run shot on Saturday, and with two home runs in Sunday's win, his clutch-hitting proved to be the difference. His first homer broke a 3-3 tie while his second extended the lead to 5-3. Â
The senior takes home the third Sun Belt Player of the Week honor of his career. During his 2023 Sun Belt Player of the Year campaign, Lewis was named player of the week twice in Week 3 and Week 10. Â
No. 24 Troy returns to action on Tuesday with its first road game of the season at No. 25 Auburn before returning home to Riddle-Pace Field with a three-game series against Northwestern State Friday-Sunday.Â
